Within the Modern Fantasy character universe, there exists twelve gods that reign above and each have limited influence upon the universe.
It is crucial they maintain peaceful relationships with each other, despite their different ideals and beliefs. To do otherwise could cause the destabilization of life - yikes!
The following is the names and short descriptions about each of the twelve gods.
Her Divine: A goddess responsible for all the kinks within the universe that are related to expansion. She thrives off of pushing body sizes, shapes, and densities beyond their limits.
His Strength: A god that encompasses strength in body, mind, and soul. He ignites a sense of hope into all those that worship him, striving for a better and more confident world for the mortals in the process.
Her Destiny: A goddess responsible for everyone being able to follow their own fates that they choose to craft for themselves. She'll do anything she can to prevent mortals from being chained into lives they never seek out.
Its Chaos: A diety responsible for disorder and randomness in the world, with a negative flair to the latter. It is unpredicatible, thriving off of madness and confusion that the mortals may face.
Their Crimson: A diety responsible for certain mortals fascination with blood, dubbing the most blessed of fluids as 'crimson'. Their followers can be recognized by the strange visual pattern of not only black fangs always present, but also eyes that have had their pupils and irises reduced to a simple, thin, and black curve cutting through the white sclera sea.
One's Dreams: A diety responsible for ambition itself, and the ability to chase one's dreams. If it were not for One's Dreams, then every mortal in this universe would be a mindless zombie with no goals
Her Conflict: A goddess responsible for conflict itself, whether it's on a small scale (such as arguments) or a larger one (such as full-blown war). She is calculated, craving any form of trouble that can be forged between individuals, factions, nations, and beyond.
His Defeat: A god response for sadness itself, to the point he's suffering through his own depression. Always on the verge of his own self-destruction, the other gods and dieties work constantly to keep the god alive for the universe's stability.
Hir Mixture: A diety responsible for the varieties in species and body designs that every human and monstrous beast can inhabit. Ze believes a boring life without all walks of life being seen and heard is a life that should not exist.
The Free: A diety responsible for positive change in life, especially if it seemingly comes from nowhere. There is whispers that he is the sibling of Its Chaos, but she'll never admit to it. They themselves are constantly changing their visual and presenting indentity, finding peace in its flucuating style as he would in mortal's changing styles.
Ver Mechanics: A diety responsible for the advancement of technology. Ve is to be thanked that more mechanical and digital individuals can exist in the mortal realm.
Xem Breath: A diety responsible for the evolution of both life and nature. Xe still holds a small grudge against most of the gods for allowing wild dinosaurs to die out. A curious case, considering mortal and more-human dinosaurs still walk, talk, and live among us..
The whole idea of Greek gods really inspired me to make my own for the Modern Fantasy character universe. Flaws? Their own personalities? Acting more like powerful humans rather than mysterious, perfect, and stoic dieties? Easily won me over.
The secondary reason for these gods existing in my works is to allow for a justifiable hand-waving of certain world rules. One example would be how characters without any visible mouths can still talk, eat, drink, and so on just the same. The answer? It can only be because one or many of the gods above make it possible due to their will.
