The Modern Fantasy character universe within my works, can be best described as modern times mixed with very fantasy-like elements. Wizards with cellphones, kings and queens in the digital age, walking-talking individuals made of slime, squeakin' pooltoy-based folks manning a coffee shop.. The list of examples go on and on!
Its sister universe is the Trans In Barking character universe.
Here's a list of basic rules that apply to the Modern Fantasy universe, just to give you an idea of what is and isn't possible.
Technology is pretty advanced, but not everything is possible. Cloning for instance HAS been done successfully, but things like time travel will probably never be possible. Teleportation does exist, however it is mostly done through magically-inclined individuals as that saves on financial and physical resources. Space travel? It's really far out man, we don't need to just travel to the moon and back. Come on, let's go sailing towards other planets my friends, we can do it!
Tons of characters have secondary species, in addition to the critters that they are as a starter. Opossums that are stuffed animals, bears that are slimes, deer that are android.. The list goes on. This doesn't apply to EVERY single character in the universe, but it's still applying to a chunk of them at least. Outside of visual appearances, there's only minor unique quirks that a character with a secondary species has.
Gods exist, but they're styled after the Greek gods. Flawed, full of personality, and their roles are incredibly specific. There are twelve total that watch over the Modern Fantasy universe, with each of their own set of followers and acknowledgment in varying degrees from the mortals.
Kink-focused elements in terms of expansion are VERY possible within this world. Carefully who and what you interact with, lest you want to end up drastically larger with quirky side effects.. Only temporary, except when it's not!
The universe gets its name quite simply from the fact that it's a modern take on fantasy.
Originally the name WAS a placeholder however, until I figured a proper name. Let's just enough time and material was created to warrant the placeholder name sticking.
I used to draw art mixing together characters from this and its sister universe, but said art has ALWAYS been noncanon and just made for fun.
