A story exploring the nomadic and eccentric individual known as Puppy Wave. Don't fear the confusion, it's the best thing you've got right now to make it through the journies ahead.
It is part of General Short Stories: Trans in Barking Universe thread of connected stories.
This short story is set within the Trans in Barking character universe. You can download it on its Itch.io page.
Story was written following a dissociation episode, in which it was used as a way to distract and ground myself.
This story title is done as a sort of pseudo-advertisement of my character Puppy Wave. In addition, its name is made from earlier demos of this story called New Wave Puppy and Puppy Expansion Pak. Both of those demos had their events refolded into one coherent piece for the final version.
NEWER Wave Puppy's plot is told through fragments that span over the early 2000s. They are made to reflect Puppy Wave's own memories of what happened during that timeframe.
Cover art featured is a heavily-photo manpiluated and cropped selfie I took during 2018, when I was attending college. It very loosely helped me to design Puppy Wave in the year that followed. Specifically, the pink coloration was used for their fur and hair, while the low-poly design of it was used for their body shape(s).
It can be safely assumed that all events in this story told by Puppy themself DID occur, though they might be ever-so slightly skewed from reality.
The released Acts, Intermissions, and Epilogue of the main Trans In Barking story can be traced back to a very barebones, abstract, and rough short story demo from 2012. In it, I experimented with making three different and unrelated short stories that would be interwoven between each other. Each chapter would feature one of said stories, end abruptly, and then be followed up with a chapter that focused on a different story from the trio.
This all relates to NEWER Wave Puppy and its demos because an unnamed and undesigned version of Puppy Wave was the star of one of those story trios from the 2012 demo. My only surviving memory of how the 'prototype' version of Puppy's story went is that it involved a lot of rambling set within a lounge of sorts.
