The very first story I've properly written and posted online. Join the rebellious young adults Reynold Waters and his girlfriend Hero Lockes as they try to make the most of living in Fort Crisp, Opossum Valley.
It is part of General Short Stories: Trans in Barking Universe thread of connected stories.
This short story is set within the Trans in Barking character universe. You can download it on its Itch.io page.
The entire story was written on a bus ride home from a college I was attending at the time.
The title of this story comes from the fact that pivotal points of the story take place on the beach on Fort Crisp. Of note is especially that near the end, after Reynold passes away, he's buried underwater and deep in that same beach's sand.
BEACH's plot is told in a form of snapshots / clips, giving only glimpses of key moments during the lives of Reynold and Hero. Imagine it's like a compilation you'd find on Youtube of a character from a TV show, where many key scenes involving them are condensed in a digestable 10 minute span.
Cover art featured is as simple as can be for one's first posted story: It's a beach. There's not really any big meaning behind it, just that it was the first time back then that I'd ever drawn cover art for something I've made. Of note however is that the cover art at the top of this page is a 2022 recreation of the original 2018 piece, the latter of which has been lost to time.
While not marked as such nor included in the official collection, BEACH is basically Trans In Barking: Prologue. It is argubly essential reading, though was made way in advance before it's events would ever be considering for the proper full story and its many parts.
Don't expect me to ever change the story's name though, as I fucking love its BEACH title.
